Position: Eureka! Camden Program Leader
Reports To: School & Community Relations Manager
Type: Part-Time
Position Summary:  We are currently seeking a Eureka! Camden Program Leader who is passionate about the Girls Inc. mission and is excited to motivate more girls to consider STEM post-secondary and career pathways. The Eureka! Camden Program Leader will support the development and oversight of this year-round program by coordinating ongoing learning sessions, summer camp experiences, and family engagement opportunities.

Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey (Girls Inc.) is the local affiliate serving 2,000 girls in the Greater Philadelphia region.

Responsibilities

The Eureka! Camden Program Leader will plan and implement activities to assist with exploring the following concepts: personal development, STEM, health/wellness, and post-secondary readiness. Eureka! is a five-year program that recruits a cohort of rising 8th graders and provides extensive support up to 12th grade and beyond. In years 1 & 2, participants engage in STEM exploration and leadership development activities. In years 3-5, participants develop job readiness skills and participate in advanced post-secondary planning initiatives such as career exploration workshops, college tours, and internships.

Program Implementation

  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator and team members to ensure that participants engage in a quality program that is developmentally appropriate during the summer and school year. Sessions in the summer are Monday-Friday, and school year sessions are two Saturdays per month.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to plan and execute career exploration workshops, college tours, and other special events.
  • Assist with the daily check-in/check-out process using the Program Attendance Log.
  • Establish a positive rapport and create a safe, engaging learning environment for all participants.
  • Ensure that all youth feel welcomed and engaged in the program.
  • Practice conflict resolution and problem-solving that model respect for differences in a nonthreatening, calm, and de-escalating style for students during and after the instructional program.
  • Practice the duties and responsibilities of a mandated reporter for suspected child abuse under current Girls Inc. policies and procedures, as required.
  • Work collaboratively with School & Community Relations Manager and team members to maintain a high quality and program safety standards that protect youths’ physical and emotional safety.
  • Act in accordance with Girls Inc. policies and procedures.

Recruitment & Retention

  • Plan and lead Eureka! info sessions at local schools and community organizations to rising 8th graders and their family members.
  • Participate in all aspects of the recruitment and enrollment process, including reviewing applications, interviews, and program orientation.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and participants, sharing program updates, opportunities, and resources.
  • Facilitate retention strategies to ensure all stakeholders are engaged in the program.

Evaluation

  • Collect and track program data and outcomes with guidance from School & Community Relations Manager.
  • Provides feedback on program curriculum, events, and partnerships.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensure all materials used for the program are sanitized and prepare single-use materials as appropriate.
  • Inventory enrichment and programming supply needed and ensure adequate replenishment as needed.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.

Professional Development

  • Participate in Girls Inc. staff meetings, training, and conferences essential to executing job functions.
  • Participate in periodic assessments of personal performance–develops own goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • The chosen candidate must have high professional effectiveness, collaboration, integrity, optimisim, and energy.
  • Experience working with middle school and high school youth.
  • Must be flexible in hours, including afterschool and summer-time.
  • Associate, Bachelor’s degree, or college student with at least one year of work experience with youth.

Compensation:  $18/hour
