Saira Blair is the Philanthropy and Community Engagement Coordinator at Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. She is responsible for researching grant opportunities, coordinating volunteer programs with corporate partners, and managing She Votes, a program designed to empower girls to become future activists and voters, and to envision themselves as candidates for elected office.
Saira has a strong passion for civic engagement. In 2014, she ran for public office in her hometown of Martinsburg, West Virginia. She was elected to the West Virginia State Legislature where she served for a total of four years. During her tenure she was a member of the Education Committee, Small Business/Entrepreneurship/Economic Development Committee, and the Industry/Labor Committee. She also had an opportunity to serve in leadership roles as an Assistant Majority Whip and as Vice-Chairwoman of the Political Subdivisions Committee.
Saira graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in World Languages, Literature, and Linguistics with an emphasis in Spanish.
As a young female who was able to achieve her dreams, she is fiercely devoted to providing that same opportunity for today’s female youth. She is thrilled to be a part of the Girls Inc. team and is very excited to become active in the Greater Philadelphia community.
