Reports To: Early Grade Literacy After School – Site Director
Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:  Assist with the daily operations of Girls Inc.’s Out-of-School Time (OST) Program, funded by the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Children and Families. Responsible for the development, leadership and execution of a high quality and structured after-school and summer program for students in K-5 grades.

GIGPSNJ serves over 2,500 girls annually.

Responsibilities

Program Facilitation and Development

  • Implements and practices the duties and responsibilities of a mandated reporter for suspected child abuse under current policies and procedures, as required.
  • Assists with the recruitment of 48-55 youth, specifically those considered high risk, to participate in daily afterschool program.
  • Leads and facilitates Girls Inc. sessions to ensure that participants receive quality programming that meets their developmental needs.
  • Plans, coordinates, and implements programs, projects, initiatives, curricula, and activities for youth.
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes special guest events and projects that include workshops, field trips, and procurement of guest speakers, and family engagements.
  • Fosters relationships with school/site administrators and teaching staff. This includes spending non-direct service time at sites to meet with teachers/administrators, observing students at partner site, speaking with administrators about the students’ progress, and executing recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Establishes a positive rapport and creates a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Provides constructive feedback on participants’ progress and encourages students to continue focusing on academic excellence.
  • Acts in accordance with Girls Inc.’s purpose, policies, and goals, representing Girls Inc. in community activities.
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.

Reporting and Evaluation

  • Accurately collects, enters, and tracks program data including demographics, attendance, pre- and post-surveys, and other feedback forms.
  • Prepares records of membership, participation, individual projects, and program impact in Citispan.
  • Produces written reports on program outcomes as required by funder or supervisor.
  • Improves programs based on evaluation results and best practices, identifying areas for program support, growth, and expansion.

  • Participates in staff meetings, training, and events essential to the execution of job functions or in support of the organization.
  • Participates in CPR and Trauma Informed Care trainings.
  • Participates in periodic assessment of own performance, develops own goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated effectiveness, collaboration, integrity, optimism, and energy.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of students in a diverse community.
  • Consistently report to program site as scheduled.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and working in groups.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Two or more years of experience working with students.
  • Must submit COVID-19 vaccination card.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field.
  • Must have Pennsylvania criminal, Pennsylvania child abuse, and FBI clearances.
  • Bilingual a plus (Spanish/English)

Requirements

  • Must be able to work during out of school time (OST) which includes after school and Saturdays as needed.

Compensation: $40,000, including excellent benefits package.
Location: Girls Inc. at the Bok Building and other school-based locations as required
