Position: Early Grade Education Group Leader
Reports To: Site Director
Type: Part-Time
Position Summary:  To facilitate and coordinate Girls Inc.’s Out-of-School Time (OST) Program, funded by the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Children and Families, for students at Julia Howe Elementary School in grades K-5. Responsible for the implementation of a high quality and structured after-school and summer program for students in K-5th grades. This program takes place daily after school.

Responsibilities

Program Implementation

  • Facilitate Out of School Time programs, Monday-Friday; 1:00-5:00PM (academic year) and 8 AM-4:30 PM (summer), ensuring quality, developmentally appropriate, and culturally relevant programming.
  • Lead age-appropriate curricula in Early Grade Literacy, STEAM, sports enrichment, and homework support.
  • Adhere to Girls Inc. policies, ensuring safety and well-being, maintaining a positive environment, and fulfilling mandated reporter responsibilities.
  • Assist in the facilitation of special events, including workshops, field trips, guest speakers, and family engagement sessions.
  • Facilitate daily check-in process.
  • Establish a positive rapport and create a safe engaging learning environment for all participants. Ensure that all youth feel welcome and engaged in the program.

Reporting & Evaluation

  • Provide feedback on participant progress, encouraging academic achievement.
  • Discuss with program team to identify areas for program support, growth, and expansion.

Professional Development

  • Participate in all Office of Children and Families (OCF) trainings, in person and virtually, as required.
  • Participate in periodic assessment of own performance, develops own goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written, verbal and facilitation skills
  • At least two years of experience working with youth in a group setting
  • Working towards associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field
  • Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and web searches

Location: Must be able to commute to school-based locations as required.
Hours per week: Must be able to work up to 15 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during the summer.
Compensation: The pay rate for this position is $20/hour. Part-time employees are eligible for paid sick leave.
