Erin Elman
Erin Elman is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in program development and strategic planning. Over four successive deanships at the University of the Arts (UArts), she oversaw Graduate & Professional Studies, the School of Art, Critical Studies, Continuing & Professional Education, and Pre-College Programs, where she directed youth programs for over twenty-five years. In addition, Erin was part of the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources consortium for over a decade, serving as on the Library’s Advisory Board. She has served on numerous peer review teams for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), was a national and international consultant and external reviewer for numerous higher education institutions, was a member of the City of Philadelphia Mayor’s Cultural Advisory Committee and the Philadelphia Art Eco System Project Team, as well as served as a US Art Education Ambassador to South Africa.
Erin received a BFA in Art from Carnegie Mellon University, an MA in Art Education, and an MFA in Book Arts/Printmaking from the University of the Arts. She also has a Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University. Erin is a practicing and exhibiting artist (erinelman.com) and has artwork in numerous public and private collections, including the Tate London. She lives in a stone cottage in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia with her family.
