The Girls Inc. Eureka! program is an intensive, five-year STEM based program for rising 8th grade girls that builds confidence and skills through hands-on opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math. Utilizing a whole girl approach, the program also incorporates physical fitness, personal development, and college and career readiness. Eureka! broadens girls’ academic and career interests, encourages enrollment in advanced math and science courses, promotes positive risk-taking, and assists girls in developing professional networks.
EUREKA! PARTICIPANTS WILL:
EUREKA! ROOKIES (8TH GRADERS):
- Participate in a 4-week summer camp at Drexel University
- Participate in exciting field trips
- Participate in sports and other personal development activities
- Attend monthly meetings during the school year
EUREKA! VETS (9TH GRADERS):
- Participate in a 4-week summer camp at Drexel University
- Participate in exciting field trips and career exploration activities
- Participate in sports and other personal development activities
- Attend monthly meetings during the school year
EUREKA! EXPLORERS (10TH GRADERS):
- Participate in a 4-week summer job shadowing camp completing over 80 hours of job shadowing
- Attend college and career visits
- Receive personal and career development workshops
- Attend monthly meetings during the school year
EUREKA! TRAILBLAZERS (11TH GRADERS):
- Participate in a 4-week paid externship
- Attend weekly personal and career development workshops
- Attend an overnight college visit to a Indiana University of Pennsylvania
- Eligible for dual enrollment opportunity with Indiana University of Pennsylvania
- Attend monthly meetings during the school year
EUREKA! SCHOLARS (12TH GRADERS):
- Participate in independent summer, which can include another externship, college courses, job shadowing, or any other post-secondary readiness opportunity decided on by participant and staff
- Receive personal and career development workshops
- Attend college tours
- Attend monthly meetings during the school year
