Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey 8th Grader, Emani Drayton-Cherry, Awarded Girls Inc. National Scholarship

Philadelphia, PA – Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey is pleased to announce that affiliate member Emani Drayton-Cherry was awarded a $500 Lucile Miller Wright scholarship. Emani is one of 21 Girls Inc. National Scholars selected from across the United States and Canada for her outstanding academic achievements, community service, and dedication to the Girls Inc. mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold.

Emani is an 8th grader at Freire Charter School and a first year Eureka! participant.

The Girls Inc. Lucile Miller Wright Scholarship program was created in 1992 to increase young women’s access to post-secondary education. Since its establishment, the program has provided over $6.3 million in scholarships to more than 800 women, inspiring them to succeed academically and consider a broad range of career possibilities.

Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey is a regional affiliate of Girls Inc. that serves thousands of girls from the area’s most under-resourced communities. Girls Inc. provides researched-based programs focused on healthy decision making, academic enrichment, and life skills training.
